Kolkata . On Monday, in her message on the occasion of Eid, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attributed two main opposition parties of the state BJP and the Left Front to spread communal tension in the state.
Attacking two opposition forces with opposite political ideology, the Chief Minister described him as ‘Ram-Bamb (Ram and Left)’.
Addressing the program of Eid prayers on Red Road, CM Mamata Banerjee urged the people not to come in the excitement that can provoke communal riots. He emphasized that his government would stand with the people and ensure that no one can create tension in the state.
Mamta Banerjee said, “Nowadays Ram-Bame raises the question whether I am a Hindu or not. My answer is that I am a Hindu, Muslim and Sikh at the same time and finally I am an Indian. What are the opposition parties doing? She is only sharing people. My life is dedicated to the country.”
The Chief Minister also warned about the possible efforts to create communal tension in the state on the occasion of Ram Navami on 6 April. The party’s general secretary and Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee was also with him on the stage.
Without naming the BJP directly, he said that some vested selfish elements have a special plan to create communal tension in the state. The Chief Minister said, “Do not get upset to create a riot -like situation. Always remember that your sister (pointing to them) is with you. Abhishek is with you. The whole state government is with you. Now anyone can do anything with you.”
Without naming the BJP, the Chief Minister appealed to the people not to listen to the political forces nor talk to them who are promoting divisive politics.
The Chief Minister said, “Just give them a befitting reply at the right time. They are trying to decide what people will eat and what will wear. I do not want a riot -like situation in the state. Always remember that common people never spread communal riots. Such riots are provoked by certain political parties.”
She also claimed that she follows the path of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Swami Vivekananda. The Chief Minister said, “But I do not recognize the religious path promoted by an opposition party. The path he propagated by him is anti -Hinduism.”
CM Mamta Banerjee’s remarks came after violence between two groups in Motari area of Malda district of West Bengal, where 61 people have been arrested.
