Korba (Rep. of New Zealand). In Kusmunda mine, bike rider SECL was hit from behind by 12 wheeled heavy vehicle of private company. The bike rider was injured in the incident, while the bike got damaged after coming under a heavy vehicle. The injured worker was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The accident happened at 6 am in the Kusmunda mine of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). SECL employee Harihar Prasad is posted as Kanta Babu at number 20 Kantaghar (Toulghar). On Monday morning, he was going towards his duty place number 20 for Kanta Ghar after attending the mine number one MTK, when the private company 12 wheel vehicle number OD 14 Z 4242 near Shramik Chowk hit him from behind. In the incident, the bike rider fell away after being splashed. At the same time, his bike number CG 12 BC 3727 came under the heavy vehicle and got completely damaged. As soon as he got information about the incident, other colleagues gathered and immediately the worker was taken to the hospital where after first aid he was referred to Gevra. Eyewitnesses told that heavy vehicles are not plying on the road with number 20, but heavy vehicles are plying on this road and they cannot see the bike riders. SECA personnel narrowly escaped in the accident. There is anger among the workers over the incident. The negligence of the management also came to the fore. The workers say that the road signs for heavy vehicles have not been installed by the management. This also creates problems for the drivers.
