Hanumangarh. An important review meeting was held at the district headquarters on Wednesday for pre -monsoon preparations under the chairmanship of District Collector Kana Ram. District level officers of all departments were present in the meeting. The Collector clarified that this year the monsoon is likely to be better than normal. According to the Meteorological Department, this time 106 percent rainfall is estimated to be compared to the previous year. In such a situation, preparations have to be done before all vigilance and awareness. Especially keeping in mind the potential water arrivals in the Ghaggar river and a list of places with waterlogging in urban and rural areas, instructions were given for prompt solutions.
The District Collector said that in the year 2023, despite the possibility of floods in Ghaggar, excellent management was done. This time too, better preparation is expected. He asked for inspection of the doors of Ghaggar and asked them to get them fixed, remove the bushes and approve the gravel roads as required. Instructing the removal of illegal and temporary bonds by June 5, the SDM asked to hand over the monitoring work to the officials. The collector said that to deal with any emergency, keep the information system strong. Maintain communication with local public representatives and residents and ensure immediate action. For flood control, keep sand -filled bags on time and the disaster management plan should be updated.
In order to deal with the disaster, water resources, PWD, Public Health Engineering, Medical and Civil Defense Departments were instructed to update their resources on the Government of India portal by June 5. At the same time, emphasis was laid on training swimmers to increase monitoring of water sources like Ghaggar river and GDC etc. and to prevent possible drowning incidents. DISCOM was also instructed to keep complete preparations to deal with potential storms, rain and strong winds by June 15.
Instructions were given to SDM to complete the cleaning of drains by June 10 in urban and rural areas, especially waterlogging affected areas. Officers should make a team and conduct a time bound inspection. The District Collector ordered the dilapidated and damaged buildings to be assessed by June 5 and issuing notices regarding red marking and issuing notices regarding private dilapidated buildings. He said that there should not be any kind of accident in this monsoon. Officers of all departments including Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar, ADM Ummedi Lal Meena, Zilla Parishad CEO OP Bishnoi were present in the meeting.
