Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla managed to get 5 percent reservation in government jobs for Gujjars under separate MBC ie Other Backward Classes for Gujjars of Rajasthan. Earlier Gujjars of Rajasthan were in OBC, but under pressure from Bainsla, the government had to include Gujjars in MBC.
Lost by 317 votes from Tonk- Sawai Madhopur
Kirori Singh Bainsla got a big advantage of the Gurjar movement. Bainsla emerged as a strong leader in the politics of Rajasthan. BJP gave ticket to Kirori Singh Bainsla from Tonk-Sawaimadhopur Lok Sabha seat, but lost the election to Congress candidate Namonarayan Meena by 317 votes. After this, Colonel Bainsla left the BJP after a few days. But once during the Lok Sabha elections 2019, Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla joined the BJP. Vasundhara Raje’s government is gone
In 2008, the then Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had to face a lot of challenges during the Gujjar reservation. The Gujjars had uprooted the railway tracks for the demand of reservation. Due to which the whole of North India was cut off from the rail route. The BJP had to face defeat in the assembly elections. During the Gurjar movement, more than 70 people of Gurjar community were killed in police firing. After the departure of the Vasundhara Raje government, the Gehlot government held talks with the Gujjars. For a long time, meetings went on in the Secretariat. The Gehlot government provided relief to the Gurjar community by accepting the demands of the Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti. However, Gujjar leaders still say that some demands are yet to be fulfilled.
Bainsla was successful in bowing down the Gehlot government
The Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti had once again threatened a movement to get the Gehlot government to accept its demands. After the threat, the Gehlot government came on the back foot. The demands of the struggle committee were accepted. The Gehlot government gave a compensation of 5 lakhs to 3 people who died during the Gurjar reservation and government servants to their families. The government said that the agreement reached in 2011 during the Gujjar agitation would be followed.
