In online shopping, do you also take a decision by looking at the product review? Have you ever wondered whether the review you are reading is fake? Yes, many e-commerce companies like Amazon-Flipkart and Myntra will soon have to remove fake product reviews from their websites or portals. According to Livemint news, the government has now decided to take strict action after receiving complaints from customers about financial loss and mental harassment.
There will be no option to edit the review
According to the news, these e-commerce companies or marketplaces will not get the option to edit customer reviews in the coming time. Companies are being instructed that in any case, there should be original content or reviews related to the product on the portal. A government official has said that online companies will be banned from blocking negative reviews written by customers.
Quality Control Order Proposal
Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare said that the Consumer Affairs Minister has proposed a Quality Control Order, so that such fake reviews can be banned. He said that this change will give e-commerce companies an opportunity to understand the genuine problems of customers and will also provide relief from negative feedback. Khare said that companies will have to go through the new rules of the government. Action will be taken against the companies which violate this.
There is a need to remove many products from the portal
Since the quality control order will pass through BIS, it is obvious that there may be a need to remove many products from the portal. Khare had recently said that fake reviews of products and services are still surfacing on e-commerce platforms. With no opportunity to inspect products in person, consumers rely heavily on online reviews when making purchases, he said. Misleading reviews and ratings may lead them to purchase goods or services based on incorrect information.
