new Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison for the excellent performance of the women’s cricket team in the World Cup. “Many congratulations to the Australian women’s cricket team for their excellent performance in the Cricket World Cup,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister said that Australia won in Saturday’s match, but the World Cup is not over yet.
On the other hand, during his address at the India-Australia summit, the Prime Minister said, “My best wishes to the teams of both the countries.”
Modi and Morrison had this conversation during the virtual summit on Monday.
Australia entered the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup with a six-wicket win over India at Eden Park in Auckland in New Zealand on Saturday.
India scored 277 runs in 50 overs for the loss of seven wickets, but Australia chased down the target with three balls to spare. With this win, Australia also broke the record for the most successful run-chases in the history of Women’s World Cup, which they did against Sri Lanka in the 2017 season of the tournament.
India are currently in fourth place with two wins from five matches. While India won against Pakistan and West Indies, the team lost to England, New Zealand and Australia.
India now need to win the remaining two matches and perform well to make it to the semi-finals of the World Cup.
