Bhubaneswar. Congress on Sunday announced the names of the party’s candidates for two Lok Sabha and eight assembly constituencies in Odisha. According to the list of candidates released by the Central Election Committee of All India Congress Committee (AICC), the party has changed the candidate for Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat. Now former MP Nagendra Pradhan has been made the candidate in place of Dulal Chandra Pradhan.
The party has fielded former minister Suresh Mahapatra from Cuttack Lok Sabha constituency. Congress has canceled the ticket of Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohammad Mokim and fielded his daughter Sophia Firdous. Former MLA Debi Prasad Chand from Jaleshwar assembly constituency and Monalisa Lenka from Balasore assembly seat have been given tickets.

According to the Congress list, Ajay Samal will contest from Barachana assembly constituency, Fakir Samal from Pallahara and Pratima Malik from Jagatsinghpur assembly constituency.
Congress has also changed candidates in two assembly seats – Baripada and Khandapada. Pramod Kumar Hembram has been given ticket in place of Badal Hembram from Baripada assembly constituency. Similarly, Baijayantimala Mohanty will contest from Khandapara in place of Manoj Kumar Pradhan.
Congress has so far declared the names of 142 candidates for the elections of 147-member assembly in Odisha. The party has left two assembly seats for Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Marxist Communist Party (CPI-M).
