Vidisha. In Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh, the Scheduled Caste Tribe Department took an important step under the leadership of the District Congress Committee. Struggling against the atrocities on Scheduled Caste and Tribe people, District Congress Committee members and other workers reached the district headquarters with 7-point demands and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Collector.
During the memorandum, Congress District President Jagannath Ahirwar and other workers reached the Collectorate and raised their voice. He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government has been in power in Madhya Pradesh for the last 20 years, but during this period there has been no reduction in the atrocities being committed on the people of Scheduled Castes and Tribes.
In this memorandum, Jagannath Ahirwar specifically presented the example of Olinja village of Gyaraspur, where he was given leases, but now those leases have been transferred to the names of other people. He demanded from the government that those leases should be returned. Along with this, a demand was also made to return the leases to the Scheduled Caste and Tribe occupants of 536 villages in Vidisha district.
Apart from this, he also raised the issue of assault on Suraj Ahirwar by Lodhi community in Vidisha district, in which no action was taken despite FIR being registered. He demanded the police to make arrests in this case, and warned that if action was not taken, there would be a road blockade in Gyaraspur on December 20.
Deputy Collector said that the memorandum given by the District Congress Committee has been received. He also said that the Collector will be informed about this matter, and appropriate action will be taken by setting up camps in related matters.
This memorandum was an important effort to protect the rights of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes in the district and to draw attention from the government to the atrocities being committed against them.
