New Delhi. During the Independence Day celebrations, the Congress was furious when the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was made to sit in the back row in the Lok Sabha. The Congress alleged that Rahul Gandhi was deliberately made to sit in the fifth row with the intention of insulting him. When the question was raised, the Defense Ministry responded and also gave the reason why he was made to sit so far back.
During the Independence Day celebrations, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was given a seat in the 5th row. A seat was also reserved for Mallikarjun Kharge in the 5th row, but he did not go. Congress got angry when Rahul Gandhi was made to sit at the back. Party spokesperson Supriya Shrinet said, it is meaningless to expect big things from small-minded people. The government has shown its frustration by making the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi sit in the fifth row during the Independence Day celebrations, but it does not matter to Rahul Gandhi. The status of the Leader of Opposition is that of a cabinet minister. The ministers of the government were sitting in the first row, so… these people do not care about democracy and democratic traditions. Whether Rahul Gandhi sits in the fifth row or the fiftieth, he will remain a leader of the people. But when will you people stop doing such acts?
What is the answer of the Defense Ministry
The Ministry of Defense responded to this. Defense Ministry sources said, we always take care of protocol, but this time to honor the Indian Olympic team, they have been seated in the front row of the ceremony. Congress also raised questions on this statement. They asked, when they wanted to honor the Olympians, did Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nirmala, Jaishankar and JP Nadda not want to honor the Olympians? Why were they made to sit in the front row?
Why such a frivolous behavior?
Earlier, Congress leader Vivek Tankha shared a picture of Rahul Gandhi sitting at the Independence Day event and posted on ‘X’, “Why is the Defense Ministry behaving so pettily. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi sat in the back row in Lok Sabha. The Leader of Opposition is above any cabinet minister. In the Lok Sabha, he is after the Prime Minister. He said, Rajnath Singh ji, you cannot allow the national programs of the Defense Ministry to be politicized. This was not expected from you.
