BJP president retaliated on LPG price growth of ₹ 50, said – Congress’s opposition only shows off
Chandigarh The BJP has retaliated by the Congress on the criticism of the central government over the increase in the price of domestic gas cylinder. BJP Chandigarh state president Jitendra Pal Malhotra described the allegations of Congress state president Lucky as “misleading, hollow and motivated by political selfishness”.
Malhotra said, “The Congress, which has lines for the cylinder, is now pretending to be a sympathizer for the poor. The Congress never worried about the poor, nor is it. Today when the Modi government is doing concrete work towards the empowerment of the poor, the Congress is restless.”
He reminded the Congress rule and said that it was a dream for the common man to get a gas cylinder at that time. “It was for hours to line up, gathering recommendations of leaders and waiting for months – this was the gas distribution model of the Congress,” Malhotra taunted.
The BJP state president said that in the year 2024-25, the central government has allocated an amount of ₹ 41,300 crore for LPG subsidy, so that the poor can get relief. Under the Ujjwala scheme, crores of women have been given gas connections without any recommendation.
Malhotra questioned the intention of the Congress, saying, “Congress used to make plans only, implementing them has never been its priority. BJP said and shown tax. This is the difference.”
He described the price hike of ₹ 50 as a step related to the global energy market and said that subsidy is still applicable for the poor. He also added that the Congress should tell how many women got relief from smoke under their rule and how many houses reached the cylinders for free?
Malhotra bluntly said, “Our goal is Antyodaya – to provide respect and convenience to the last person of society. Like Congress, not only vote bank politics is not our character.”
In the end, he demanded a public apology from the Congress, saying, “If the Congress has a little shame, he apologized for those years, when the poor women used to die in the smoke of the stove and the governments were silent. Today when the BJP has brought change, the Congress is not getting it too.”
