Congress opposed a nation, one election bill, six -member delegation of Chandigarh Pradesh Congress protested in all -party meeting

Chandigarh The Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee openly lodged a protest in the all -party meeting convened by the Joint Committee of Parliament regarding the proposal “One Nation, One Election”. A six -member delegation constituted by State President HS Lucky attended the meeting and described this proposed bill as completely against the interests of the country.

Chandigarh Pradesh Congress President HS Lucky appointed Jatinder Bhatia, good Lal Gaur, Haji Zahid Parvez Khan, Harmel Kesari, Rajdeep Sidhu and Gurdarshan to discuss the subject. All these members attended the meeting and reached the party’s side.

During the meeting, Congress representatives clearly stated that the country has no need for a proposal like “one country, one election”. He alleged that this bill is against the spirit of democracy, the original soul of the Constitution and the federal structure. Party representatives said that this bill has many flaws, which can damage the democratic process.

The delegation answered all the questions asked by the committee as a written document and demanded immediate cancellation of the bill.

The Congress says that the implementation of this proposal will not only affect the autonomy of the states but can also narrow the role and freedom of the Election Commission.

The state Congress president also described this decision as anti -democracy and said that the party will conduct a public awareness campaign on this issue in future also.
