Kanpur. Sabarmati Express (train number 19168) derailed near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh at 2.35 am today. Its engine collided with an object placed on the track and derailed. After this, many speculations started about the accident. It was told that the cattle guard in front of the engine broke after colliding with some heavy object. Due to this, 22 coaches of Sabarmati Express derailed. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has asked the IB to investigate this entire accident. It will be investigated how such a big boulder reached the railway track.
After the accident, Ashwini Vaishnav tweeted that ‘The engine of Sabarmati Express (Varanasi to Ahmedabad) hit an object on the track near Kanpur at 02:35 am today and derailed. Sharp impact marks have been found on it. Evidence has been preserved. IB and UP Police are also working on it. There were no injuries to passengers or staff. Train arrangements were made for the passengers for further journey to Ahmedabad.’
