BThe weather of the abstraction is the most beautiful gift of nature. It quenches the thirst of the earth, gives life to crops, fills rivers and ponds and purifies the environment. But when this rainfall occurs continuously and unusually, the same boon sometimes takes the form of a curse. In a country like India, where the strength of infrastructure is still not fully strengthened, continuous rain becomes a problem for the people. In the last few years, we have seen that unusual rains led to flood-like situation in many states, hundreds of people became homeless, electricity and water supply was interrupted and life was disturbed. At such a time, it is not enough to depend only on the government or administration, but it becomes the duty of every citizen to take care himself and make others aware.
It is true that natural disasters are not completely under our control, but with caution and discipline we can reduce their effects. The biggest danger is from electricity during rainy days. When the ground is wet, the roads are filled with water and moisture is spread all around, then the risk of current increases manifold. The electricity department has warned the public in time to maintain distance from electric wires, pillars, cables and meters in this season. A little carelessness can prove to be fatal.
Every year during the rainy season in India, hundreds of people lose their lives in the grip of electric current. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, only 10-12 thousand people die every year in electrical accidents, of which a large number of people occur in rain months. These figures clarify how serious the danger is. Villages and towns still have open wires, loose pillars and shabby poles. When they are submerged in water in continuous rains, the chances of spreading current in them increases.
This danger increases even more when people come into contact with them unnecessarily. Many times children get down in water pits in sports and games, while they do not know that any electric wire is dropped in the same water. Such incidents take place every year and it shows the greatest inadvertence of our society. It is not empty of risk to get out of the house during rainy days. One should avoid getting out of the house without reason. Even if the necessary work is done, one should go with caution. Slast roads, deep pits and drains hide in water and accidents become common.
Many times people only go to water filled places for curiosity or entertainment, photographs, make videos and put on social media. But this curiosity puts them in danger. Unknowingly, they can be hit by deep pits, drains or current water. We have to understand that our life is greater than adventure or appearance. The truth is that if there is life, then everything is there. Constant rains bring a big challenge not only for personal security, but also for the administration. The electricity department has to be cautious round the clock so that electricity supply is maintained to the people and accidents can be avoided. The municipal corporation and panchayats have to deal with the problem of waterlogging.
The Health Department has to fight dengue, malaria and water -spread diseases. After the rain, the outbreak of mosquitoes increases, due to which the number of patients in hospitals suddenly becomes manifold. The traffic department also has to face road accidents and traffic jams. This effort of the administration can be successful only when citizens also understand the responsibility and cooperate. Natural challenge like rain cannot be faced only by administrative measures.
The society will also have to be aware and fulfill its responsibility. The people of the neighborhood and the village should keep the drains clean so that there is no waterlogging. Reach the information of electric poles and wires to the department. Teach children not to go to the open wire or pole in the rain. Spread only the correct information on social media, not rumors. Many times false news and rumors make the situation more serious. The rain not only gives us a crisis, but it also teaches us many lessons. This tells us that we should further strengthen our infrastructure.
It reminds that playing with natural elements like electricity and water can be fatal. It teaches us that discipline and caution protect life. If people take some precautions, then the effect of the biggest disaster can also be reduced. It has been seen many times in our country that whenever a natural disaster comes, people face it together. Voluntary organizations come forward to help the flood victims, people give shelter and food to each other. This collectivity and cooperation is the greatest strength of Indian society.
The same cooperation and awareness is also necessary in a rainy situation. The more beautiful and life -long as the rainy season is, the more dangerous it can be. It depends on us whether we make it a boon or curse. If we will be careful, will take the warnings of administration seriously and take social responsibility, then this season will bring pleasure and freshness for us. But if we will be negligent, will go to electrical wires and pillars, leave the house without reason and spread rumors, then this season can turn into sorrow and tragedy.
Today the need is that we all together make this rainy season safe. Keep distance from electric wires, pillars and open meters. Do not get out without reason and even if you have to leave, take full care. Cooperate with the administration, spread awareness in the society and maintain discipline. Remember – Security is the rescue. And eventually it is true that if life is there, everything is there.
