Bangalore. Karnataka Congress hired a contractor and BJP worker Santosh K. In the case of Patil’s suicide, it has been decided to intensify the agitation against the government. A delegation of top Congress leaders, including party general secretary and state in-charge Randeep Surjewala, met Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Wednesday and met Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K.S. Eshwarappa’s dismissal.
The delegation will also demand registration of corruption and murder charges against Minister Eshwarappa and insist on his immediate arrest. Surjewala was accompanied by state Congress president D.K. Shivakumar, Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council B.K. Hariprasad, campaign committee chairman M.B. Patil and other leaders will meet the Governor and submit a memorandum in this regard.
Santosh K., a contractor from Belagavi. Patil, in his message to media persons, had said that he was going to commit suicide as Minister Eshwarappa was not releasing funds for projects worth Rs 4 crore. He also said that 40 per cent commission was demanded from him. Patil’s body was recovered from Udupi Lodge on Tuesday.
The Congress has started a protest against the government from Tuesday demanding the sacking of minister Eshwarappa. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had lodged a complaint against him with the police in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, the BJP high command has sought a report from its state unit in the suicide case.
The incident is a setback for the ruling BJP, which has been playing politics over the Hindutva agenda in the state for quite some time. The Congress party has now come out aggressively on this issue. The deceased Santosh had earlier written a letter to the top central BJP leadership, including Prime Minister August 2, 2021

Congress sources said the party has decided to take up the issue at the entire state and national level. He also said that the party would question Prime Minister Modi, who had accused Siddaramaiah’s previous government of a “10 per cent commission government”.
