Balasore. After the gruesome train accident on Friday near Bahanaga station in Balasore district of Odisha, the Railways has made arrangements to inform the relatives of the passengers. Apart from this, many trains have also been cancelled. Both the up and down tracks have been closed due to the accident near Bahanaga station in Balasore. Because of this, some trains are being diverted. Whereas, Railways has canceled some trains till further notice. The canceled trains are 12837 Puri Express, 12863 Yesvantpur Express, 02837 Santragachi-Puri Special, 20831 Shalimar-Sambalpur Express and 12839 Chennai Mail. According to railway sources, due to the major accident, it is going to take time to repair the track and other things there. In such a situation, there is a possibility of cancellation of trains till at least tomorrow.
If we look at the statistics of the last 10 years before this, then on August 18, 2017, the Utkal Express going from Puri to Haridwar derailed in Muzaffarnagar, UP, in major train accidents. 23 people died and 60 were injured in that accident. On 20 November 2016, an express train going from Indore to Patna derailed at Pukhrayan near Kanpur. 150 passengers had lost their lives in that accident. Similarly, on May 26, 2014, Gorakhdham Express collided with a goods train near Khalilabad station in UP. 25 people lost their lives in this accident. And on May 22, 2012, the Hubli-Bengaluru Hampi Express collided with a goods train in Andhra Pradesh. 25 people were killed in this.
