Mumbai. Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole’s video of the crack on Mumbai’s Atal Setu on Friday is being widely discussed. He claims that the bridge was inaugurated three months ago, but the crack in it has created fear among commuters and people are afraid to drive on this bridge. In the video shared by PTI, he is seen inspecting the bridge. At the same time, the head of the bridge project has termed Patole’s claim as misleading. He has said that there is nothing like that, the crack has come in the footpath part of the road and its repair work is going on.
It is worth noting that concerns are being raised about the safety of the people after cracks appeared on the 21.8 km long sea bridge or Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Seva Setu, also known as Atal Setu, in Navi Mumbai. Soon after Patole’s claims, government officials visited the site and clarified that the cracks had indeed appeared on the service road connecting the bridge to the city, which is different from the road of the main bridge.
PM Modi inaugurated it in January
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this bridge in January this year. This bridge, considered to be the longest sea bridge in the country, has been built at a cost of more than Rs 17,840 crore. In a video shared on PTI’s social media site, Patole is seen inspecting the crack in the road of the bridge. He has expressed his concern over the potential danger to the safety of people due to the crack.
Congress leader shared the post on social media
Patole wrote on the social media site ‘X’, ‘It is very worrying that the “Atal Setu” bridge which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi just 5 months ago has developed cracks. There is an atmosphere of panic among the passengers due to the large number of cracks. The incident of collapse of a newly constructed bridge in Bihar has become fresh, but due to this heart-wrenching incident in Mumbai, many questions are being raised on the functioning of the government.’
