India is celebrating its 78th Independence Day today. We got freedom from British rule on 15 August 1947. But the British gave freedom to India by dividing it. India was divided into two parts, Hindustan and Pakistan. This separated many families and millions of people lost their lives. Even though today India and Pakistan are separate countries, but politically, culturally and socially there are many similarities between the countries. Cricket is very popular in both India and Pakistan. The game connects the two countries and brings them together. Whenever there is a match between the two countries, cricket fans get very excited. When Pakistan became a new nation after separating from India, many cricketers who used to play cricket for India joined the Pakistan team. 1. Abdul Hafeez Kardar
Abdul Hafeez Kardar was born on 17 January 1925 in Lahore. He studied in England. After this, he made his Test debut for the Indian team against England in 1946. He was counted among the most fearless cricketers of that time. He played only three Test matches for India. After this, he became the captain of the Pakistan cricket team and played 23 Test matches for them. Abdul Hafeez was the captain in all of them. He is also considered the father of Pakistani cricket. He played a total of 26 Test matches in his career, scoring 921 runs and taking 21 wickets. Kardar also became the chairman of the Pakistan Board of Control and Selectors.
2. Gul Mohammad
Gul Mohammad was born on 15 October 1921 in Lahore. He was known for his flamboyant batting and medium pace bowling. Gul Mohammad played 8 Tests for India and only one Test match for Pakistan. He did not go to Pakistan immediately after independence. Rather, he played his last match for Team India against Pakistan in 1952. Then he joined the Pakistani team. He scored 205 runs in 9 Test matches of his career. Apart from this, he took two wickets.
3. Aamir Ilahi
Aamir Ilahi has also played cricket for both India and Pakistan. He made his Test debut for the Indian team on 12 December 1947. Which was his only Test match for India. After this he played 5 Test matches for Pakistan. He played his last match for Pakistan against India in the year 1952. In the 6 Test matches of his career, Aamir Ilahi scored a total of 82 runs and took 7 wickets.
