Chennai Super Kings started the 17th season of IPL on a great note and won both the initial matches, after which they had to face their first defeat of this season in the match against Delhi Capitals. In the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the team suffered a one-sided defeat by 6 wickets. In this match, CSK team, batting first, could score only 165 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs, whereas Sunrisers Hyderabad achieved this target at the loss of 4 wickets in 18.1 overs. After the second consecutive defeat this season, the new captain of Chennai Super Kings Ruturaj Gaikwad cited the pitch as a major reason along with poor fielding.
This wicket was very slow, we had to give up the catch also.
After the defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Ruturaj Gaikwad said that to be honest, this wicket was very slow, they bowled very well and did not give us a chance to bat freely in the last 5 overs. When he set out to chase the target, he put pressure on us from the very beginning. This pitch was also made of black soil, due to which we considered it slow, but as the ball got older, this pitch became even slower. On this pitch we should have made a score of at least 170 to 175. While we were not able to bowl well even in the powerplay, scoring runs became a little easier due to dew coming later. We also dropped a catch which made a difference to us. Although Moeen Ali was turning the ball even in the 15th and 16th overs, I think there was not much change in the pitch.
Shivam Dubey impressed with the bat for CSK
If we talk about the batting of Chennai Super Kings in this match, then captain Ruturaj Gaikwad once again missed playing a big innings and returned to the pavilion after scoring 26 runs in 21 balls, while Rachin Ravindra also managed to score only 12 runs. However, a brilliant inning of 45 runs in 24 balls was definitely seen from the bat of Shivam Dubey. Whereas Ravindra Jadeja could score only 31 runs in 23 balls. CSK now has to play its 5th match this season against Kolkata Knight Riders on 8 April.
