Bank Holiday on 1st April : If you are thinking of going to RBI branch on April 1 to exchange Rs 2000 note, then stop. You will not be able to get this facility on April 1st. Reserve Bank of India has given this information by posting on social media platform X. RBI wrote, ‘There will be no facility to exchange or deposit Rs 2000 notes in 19 branches of the Reserve Bank of India on April 1. This facility will remain closed due to annual closing of the account. This facility will resume from April 2, 2024.
Will banks remain closed on April 1?
April 1st is the first day of the new financial year. There is no normal work in banks on this day due to employees being busy in closing the accounts of the old financial year. Due to this, banks will remain closed in all the states and union territories except Chandigarh, Sikkim, Mizoram, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya on April 1. However, banks will remain open on March 30, the fifth Saturday of the month.

April 1, 2024: There will be a bank holiday on April 1 due to closing of bank accounts at the end of the financial year.
5 April 2024: Due to Babu Jagjivan Ram’s birthday and Jumat-ul-Vida, there will be a bank holiday in Srinagar, Jammu and Telangana.
7 April 2024: There will be a weekly holiday for banks due to Sunday.
9 April 2024: Due to Gudi Padwa/Ugadi Festival/Telugu New Year and first Navratri, there will be bank holiday in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji and Srinagar.
10 April 2024: Banks will remain closed in Kochi and Kerala due to Eid.
11 April 2024: Banks will remain closed across the country due to Eid.
13 April 2024: Banks will remain closed due to second Saturday.
14 April 2024: There will be a weekly holiday in banks due to Sunday.
15 April 2024: Banks will remain closed in Guwahati and Shimla zones due to Himachal Day.
17 April 2024: Due to Shri Ram Navami, there will be a bank holiday in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shimla, Mumbai and Nagpur.
20 April 2024: There will be a bank holiday in Agartala due to Garia Puja.
21 April 2024: There will be a weekly holiday for banks due to Sunday.
27 April 2024: There will be a bank holiday due to the fourth Saturday.
28 April 2024: There will be a weekly holiday for banks due to Sunday.
