Dal Rates in Indore: Indore (Naiduniya Representative). The arrival of chickpea in the mandi was expected to increase from Monday. However this did not happen. On Monday, the arrival of new chickpea in Indore Mandi remained limited. About 800 sacks of new chickpeas arrived. The arrival of old Kabuli was good and about 1500 sacks of goods reached the market. Kabuli prices declined. The price in new Kabuli was Rs 7100 to Rs 7800 quintal. On the other hand, from two days ago, news of pulses trading sources are telling that many imported containers of moong and about 50 thousand tonnes of moong are getting stuck due to the ban imposed by the government on imports recently. However, dismissing this apprehension, experts are telling the efforts of speculators to increase the prices of moong.
Because it is true that the government has kept the import of moong from the free category to the restricted category. But with the import ban imposed from February 11, the government has also given exemption that the deals which have been done till March 31 will be allowed to land at the country’s ports. In such a situation, a strategy is visible by the importers to sell their goods at good prices, citing the possibility of container getting stuck. Chana prices remained stable throughout the week due to limited trading last week, but in the beginning of this week, gram fell by Rs 75 to Rs 4950 per quintal. The arrival of new gram has started increasing in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
In Maharashtra, the crop of gram is said to be good at some places and the yield is said to be weak at some places. Chana production this year is expected to be around 80-90 lakh tonnes. Although the production estimate of the Agriculture Department has been released at 139 lakh tonnes. Nafed is keeping pressure on the market by selling gram. Due to this, the price of gram in Indore is also decreasing. Farmer is forced to sell gram below MSP. Nafed may start buying in March. There was a partial slowdown in the prices due to good arrivals in the new giant gram. Vishal gram new remained at Rs 4400-4750 per quintal. In lentils, the prices remained firm due to sporadic demand at lower prices. Lentils were quoted at Rs 6750-6800 per quintal. Business was normal in Moong, Tur and Urad.
