New Delhi. David Warner has bid farewell to all three formats of international cricket one after the other. He announced his retirement from Test cricket after the series played against Pakistan in December last year. After this, after the ODI World Cup played in India, David Warner bid farewell to this format. Then after the 2024 T20 World Cup, he retired from the shorter format. Warner had expressed his desire to play the Champions Trophy a few days ago. But Chief Selector Bailey has said that he will not be selected for this.
Bailey said, “Our understanding is that David has retired and he should be appreciated for his great career in all three formats. Our plan is that he will not be in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. I think he is just joking a little bit. His career has been great. It is difficult to celebrate it. What he has done for Australia is amazing. We will now try some other players in different formats. It is going to be very exciting.
A few days ago, Australia opener David Warner wrote in a social media post that he will continue to play franchise cricket and also wants to play for Australia in the Champions Trophy. Warner wrote, “I will continue to play franchise cricket for some time now. I am also available to play the Champions Trophy for Australia, if the selectors give me a place in the team.”
