The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung Observatory on Thursday was 44.8 degrees Celsius, which is 4.9 degrees Celsius above normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 29.4 degrees Celsius, which is 1 degree Celsius higher than the average temperature of this season. The temperature recorded at Safdarjung Observatory is considered the standard of the city.

The IMD said that the maximum temperature was recorded at 45.1 degrees Celsius at Najafgarh weather station. The maximum temperature was recorded at 45.3 degrees Celsius in Narela, 46.4 degrees in Aya Nagar, 46.3 degrees in Ridge and 45.8 degrees Celsius in Palam. ‘Orange’ alert is issued for the national capital. The IMD has forecast partly cloudy sky on Friday and thundershowers and light rain or drizzle at some places in the afternoon and evening. The IMD has also forecast heatwaves in some areas and strong winds at a speed of 35 kmph on Friday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 44 and 30 degrees Celsius respectively on June 14.
