Olympic Games will be organized in Paris from July 26 this year, for which qualifier rounds of various sports are being organized continuously. In this series, Asia will present its challenge through the Olympic Qualifier to achieve the quota in the Paris Olympics from April 19. Before this event, two Indian wrestlers have suffered a major setback, one name is Deepak Punia, who narrowly missed winning a medal in the Tokyo Olympics, and the other name is Sujit Kalkal. Both these players could not reach Dubai on time due to delay in the flight due to heavy rains in Dubai, due to which the organizers did not allow them to participate.
15 wrestlers reached Bishkek
Deepak Punia was to participate in the qualifiers of 86 kg weight category and Sujit Kalkal of 74 kg weight category, but due to flight delay in Dubai, by the time both the players reached Bishkek, the weight of the wrestlers of their event had been taken there. In such a situation, the organizers did not allow him to play. Apart from these two players, 15 more wrestlers have reached Bishkek on time. A total of 36 quota places will be at stake in freestyle, women’s and Greco-Roman in this Asia Olympic Qualifier. Indian wrestlers will try to achieve quotas in all weight categories except one event. Everyone’s eyes will also be on Olympian Vinesh Phogat who will compete to get a quota in the Paris Olympics.
Everyone’s eyes will be on these players
All eyes were on the Indian wrestlers who arrived to participate in the Asia Olympic Qualifier. In the men’s freestyle category, apart from Aman Sehrawat (57 kg), Jaideep (74 kg), Deepak (97 kg) and Sumit (125 kg) also showed their best performance. Kar would leave no stone unturned to secure the quota for the Paris Olympics for India. In the women’s category, Vinesh Phogat (50 kg), Ritika Hooda (76 kg), current Under-23 World Champion Anshu (57 kg), Mansi (62 kg) and Nisha (68 kg) have all secured their places for the Paris Olympics.
