First defeated Rina Parnat of Estonia
India’s experienced archer Deepika Kumari entered the last 32 by defeating Estonia’s Reena Parnat 6.5 in a shoot-off in the first round of 64. A few days ago, the Indian women’s archery team lost to the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, in which Deepika’s performance was criticized a lot. Deepika managed to win the first set in today’s match in the first round, but lost the second. The score was equal in the third, while she lost the fourth, after which she equaled her opponent in the fifth. In the fifth round, she hit all three targets accurately and managed to equalize. After this, a shoot-off had to be resorted to for the result. In the shoot-off, Deepika Kumari scored nine and her opponent scored eight. With this, she entered the round of 32.
Defeated Roffen Quinti of Netherlands
Her next match in the Round of 32 started shortly after. Here she had to face Rofen Quinti of Netherlands. It was expected that this match would be tough. But Deepika made it almost one-sided. Here Deepika won the first round. However, she had to face a close defeat in the second. It seemed that the matter could get serious, but she made a comeback in the third round. After this, she won the fourth round very comfortably. In this way, with a score of 6.2, she won the match and after this she directly entered the Round of 16.
Deepika Kumari is playing her fourth Olympics
Deepika Kumari is a big name in archery in India. She is playing her fourth Olympics this time.
