According to an official, non-scheduled flights will not be allowed to take off or land at Delhi airport during the specified time on August 15. According to PTI news, restrictions will be in place on non-scheduled flights of scheduled airlines and private jet operations from 6 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 7 pm on Independence Day.
There will be no effect on these planes
According to the news, the official said on Tuesday that scheduled flight operations will not be affected. While no landing or take-off will be allowed for non-scheduled flights during the specified period, the NOTAM will have no impact on scheduled flights as well as aircraft operated by the IAF, BSF and Army aviation helicopters.
These flights are exempted from restrictions
Further, the official said that state-owned aircraft, helicopters carrying the governor or the chief minister as well as flights carrying out quick reaction time missions and casualty/urgent medical evacuation are exempted from the restrictions. A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued in this regard by the Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) under the Airports Authority of India (AAI). Generally, a NOTAM is a notice containing information required for personnel involved in flight operations. The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital is the busiest airport in the country.
Heavy crowd at Delhi airport today
There was a huge crowd at Delhi airport on Tuesday due to strict security checks in view of 15 August. This caused trouble to many passengers. They also posted pictures and videos of the situation at the airport on social media. Passengers had to stand in line for 20 minutes to 45 minutes to complete the checking process.
