The Delhi Capitals team, playing the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has suffered a big blow in the form of captain Rishabh Pant before the match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore team on May 12. Pant is facing a one-match ban for violating the IPL code of conduct. Actually, Delhi Capitals did not complete their quota of overs on time in the match played against Rajasthan Royals, after which due to this mistake for the third time, team captain Pant was suspended for one match and he was punished. A fine of Rs 30 lakh has also been imposed.
Delhi Capitals team players also fined
On May 7, the Delhi Capitals team played a match against Rajasthan Royals at their home ground Arun Jaitley Stadium, in which they achieved a thrilling victory. After this match, the match referee decided to suspend Rishabh Pant of Delhi Capitals team for one match for violating the IPA Code of Conduct for the third time this season. In this match, apart from the rest of the players included in the playing eleven of the Delhi team, everyone including the impact player has been fined Rs 12 lakh or 50 percent of their fee, whichever is less. The Delhi Capitals team had also challenged this decision of the match referee, but after a thorough investigation by the BCCI, the referee’s decision was considered correct.
Delhi still has a chance to reach the playoffs
This season of IPL has seen a lot of ups and downs in the performance of Delhi Capitals team. So far, out of the 12 matches played, they have won 6 and lost 6. In the points table, Delhi team is currently at 5th position with 12 points, so to reach the playoffs, it will have to win its last two matches. While Delhi has to play its next match against RCB, it will play its last league match this season on May 14 against Lucknow Super Giants team.
