New Delhi. The bail plea of CM Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi liquor scam case was heard in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. On behalf of CM, Abhishek Manu Singhvi presented his arguments strongly. The court also asked tough questions and answers from the ED. But ED also placed such facts before Justice Khanna’s bench which had not come to light till now in this case. ED mentioned before the court the role of Delhi government and a person named Chanpreet Singh.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) told the Supreme Court that Arvind Kejriwal had stayed in the 7 star Grand Hyatt Hotel during the 2022 Goa Assembly elections. Its bill was paid by Chanpreet Singh. It was told that this person had allegedly accepted cash for AAP’s campaign. ED told the Supreme Court that this is not a politically motivated case. Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the ED, said – We are not worried about politics, we are worried about evidence and we have evidence.

Payment of some part of the bill…
On this, the bench also asked why relevant direct questions were not asked to the witnesses and accused in the case. ED says that during the initial phase of investigation of Delhi liquor scam, he was not focused on CM Arvind Kejriwal and ED was not paying attention to him, but as the investigation progressed, his role became clear. He said Kejriwal had stayed in a seven-star hotel during the 2022 Goa Assembly elections and part of the bill was allegedly paid by the General Administration Department of the Delhi government.
What is the matter of Delhi liquor scam?
In the Delhi liquor scam case, CM Arvind Kejriwal has filed a petition calling the arrest illegal. The Supreme Court is currently hearing the issue of granting interim bail in view of the Lok Sabha elections. The Chief Minister of Delhi was arrested by ED on 21 March. In the present case, CBI is also investigating the case under the Anti-Corruption Act. Investigating agencies allege that a profit of Rs 100 crore was passed on to the liquor traders of South India. In return, he donated Rs 45 crore to Aam Aadmi Party in Goa elections.
