A fire broke out in a four-storey building in Delhi on Friday. People allege that the fire tenders reached the spot late. However, a crane driver Dayanand Tiwari saved the lives of more than 50 people, mostly women. Tiwari managed to save more than 50 lives with the help of cranes and local people. However, he also regrets that he could not save more lives as the raging fire spread rapidly.
He said, “When I was coming from Mundka Udyog Nagar, I saw a fire in the building. With the help of the crane, we rescued more than 50 people, mostly women.” The crane owner and an assistant helped Tiwari. Recalling the horrific incident, Tiwari said that fire tenders had reached the spot after one and a half hours.
He said, “Slowly the fire spread very much and we could not save others. Our crane owner and helpers were also present during the rescue operation. It was a very frightening sight.”
Two teams of forensic science reached the spot on Sunday to assist the Delhi Police in investigating the Mundka fire incident. Burnt remains of the victims were also found from the spot. Police have said that forensic DNA test will be done to identify the dead.
In an official statement, Director of Forensic Science Laboratory Deepa Verma said, “Our two teams including senior experts are currently working on the spot. They will identify the remains and pick up the samples for identification purpose. Experts from FSL will collect the samples from the spot. Will assist the police in identifying and picking them up. Later handed over to the investigating officer.”
