New Delhi. The Delhi Police Special Cell has achieved a significant success amid serious security concerns on the occasion of Independence Day. Ahead of August 15, the Special Cell has arrested a key ISIS terrorist Rizwan, a resident of Daryaganj in Delhi. Rizwan is a member of the ISIS Pune module and was absconding for several years. The NIA had already announced a bounty of Rs 3 lakh on Rizwan and his associates. Recently, the Special Cell arrested him from Daryaganj area of Old Delhi, from where some weapons, including a pistol, were recovered.

Reconnaissance of VIP areas
According to sources, Rizwan had done a recce of some VIP areas of Delhi. It is being speculated that he was planning to carry out a major terrorist incident on 15 August. But his plans have been foiled due to the vigilance and efficient action of the Special Cell. In October 2023, the Special Cell arrested Mohammad Arshad Warsi and a suspect named Rizwan along with ISIS Pune module terrorist Shahnawaz. Rizwan, another member of this module, was absconding till now. The NIA had arrested 7 people in this case, out of which three terrorists are still absconding.

Security agencies achieved a big success
This action of the Special Cell is part of efforts to strengthen security on the occasion of Independence Day in Delhi. Rizwan’s arrest proves that security agencies are constantly monitoring the activities of terrorists and are able to catch them on time. After this success, Delhi Police has appealed to the public to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police.
