New Delhi. Delhi Police on Sunday registered an FIR regarding a doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In this video from the Telangana rally, his statements indicating his commitment to end the reservation quota for Muslims were changed to make it appear as if he was advocating the end of all reservations.
A source associated with Delhi Police said, ‘We received a complaint regarding the edited video of the Home Minister. The police received two complaints, one from the BJP and the other from the Home Ministry. After this, the IFSO unit of Special Cell Cyber Wing of Delhi Police registered an FIR. Sources said that a case has been registered under sections 153, 153A, 465, 469, 171G of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 66C of the Information Technology (IT) Act and investigation has been started.

According to the FIR, the Home Ministry has said in its complaint that it has been found that some morphed videos are being circulated by users of Facebook and Twitter. The FIR states, ‘It appears that the video has been tampered with. Through this, misleading information is being spread with the intention of creating disharmony between communities, which is likely to affect public peace and public order issues.
The Ministry has requested that you please take necessary legal action as per the provisions of law. It also said that a report was attached with the complaint, which had details of the links and handles from which the doctored videos of the Home Minister were being shared.
