Jaipur. The Rajasthan Pradesh prohibition committee has written a letter to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma demanding to increase the age of buying and drinking alcohol from 18 years to 25 years. Dharamvir Kateva, chairman of Rajasthan Pradesh prohibition committee, said that the consumption of liquor among the youth is spreading like fire. Youngsters are mistaken to consider the tendency of drinking alcohol as a social reputation. He said that the minimum age of buying and drinking liquor in Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Meghalaya has fixed 25 years. Therefore, in Rajasthan too, the age of buying and drinking alcohol should be increased by 25 years than 18 years. With this, the youth can be saved in getting trapped by this habit. Such instructions should also be issued prominently showing the provision of age of restaurant operator. The committee has expressed concern over easily getting alcohol at liquor shops even after 8 pm. If alcohol is found at an liquor shop after 8 pm, the responsibility of the local police officer should be fixed. At the same time, he has demanded to put a sign board in the prescribed size, raising the issue of being much larger than the prescribed size outside the liquor shop.
