Muftis said that if an insurance policy is included in the making of e-shram card, then it is haraam as the policy contains a mixture of interest and gambling, due to which its use is not permissible.
A fatwa from Deoband’s Darul Uloom regarding making e-shram card is going viral on social media, stating that it is illegal to use it if it includes insurance policy and interest. If the government is getting the card made at its own expense, then there is some scope in its use.
In a fatwa going viral on social media on Wednesday, a person asked Mufti-e-Karam of Darul Ifta department that e-shram cards were being made on behalf of the government. Through which those who make the card will be able to take the benefit of any government scheme.
It also asked whether the insurance policy from the government is also included in the e-shram card. In which this facility has been given that if any accident happens with the card holder, then compensation will also be given to him on request from the government.
To which, in response to the muftis, it was said that if the insurance policy is included in the making of e-shram card, then it is haram. Because there is a mixture of interest and gambling in the policy. Because of which its use is not justified.
Muftis also said that these cards are being made by the government and no amount has to be paid by the card holder, so there is some scope in its use. The fatwa is for the month of December. Which has now gone viral on social media. However, no one could be contacted by the organization in this regard.
