Jaipur. This time the monsoon rains in Rajasthan have broken many records. This is the first time in the last many years that such a long period of heavy rain has gone on in Rajasthan. This time Rajasthan is seen giving tough competition to Himachal Pradesh, famous for its rain and snowfall, in terms of rainfall. This time the rain in Rajasthan is not in millimetres but in inches. Rivers are flowing among the sandy dunes in the desert of Rajasthan. The rivers and streams are overflowing. Due to heavy rains, the entire state has been covered in a blanket of greenery.
Everyone is surprised by the colors that the rain has shown this time in Rajasthan. From east to west and north to south, the rain has caused such havoc that dozens of people were swept away like straws in water. Crops were destroyed. Many roads were blocked. Roads were broken into pieces. There are no roads left in the state, but only potholes. Due to the bad condition of the roads, it has become impossible to walk on them. Now Rajasthanis have started getting scared of seeing clouds. For the last 15 days, the temperature of Rajasthan has remained around 38 degrees.
Abnormal rain has occurred in 18 districts
More than half of the districts of Rajasthan have received 1.5 times more rain than the average. According to the Meteorological Department, 18 districts have received abnormal rain till August 14. These districts have received 60 percent more rain than the average. 20 districts have received much more rain than the average. These districts have received 20 to 59 percent more rain than the average. Six districts have received 1 to 19 percent more rain than normal. There are six districts where the rain has been less than normal.
The Luni river, also known as Maru Ganga, was in spate
Due to this rain in Rajasthan, the Luni river, also known as the Desert Ganga, was in spate. Three youths were swept away in it and died an untimely death. The sandy dunes of the famous Sam of Jaisalmer were filled with water. The rain in eastern Rajasthan was so severe that people started crying for help. Flood-like conditions arose in many districts like Karauli, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Jaipur, Kota Rural and Bundi. This time, Banswara, Dungarpur and Pratapgarh, which are among the districts with the highest rainfall in the state, have received less than average rainfall. Udaipur division has also received less than average rainfall.
The period of heavy rain will continue in Rajasthan
According to the weather department, heavy rains will continue in Rajasthan. This period is expected to continue till August 17. Hence, the rainfall figures will increase further. Out of the total 691 dams, big and small, about 150 are full. More than 10 dams have overflowed. But due to encroachment, many dams have not yet been filled with full water. Bisalpur dam has been filled only halfway. But this time the rain has left the people of Marudhara crying.
