Shut Down: The founders of microblogging platform Koo App, which has become popular as Desi Twitter, have decided to shut it down. The app’s founders Mayank Bidwatka and Apremeya Radhakrishna have made this announcement through social media platforms. Koo was running in financial loss for the last few months and it was becoming difficult for the founders to recover its technology cost. The company also laid off many employees in April 2023 last year. Due to the start-up company not getting funding, the founders have now decided to shut it down.
Decision taken due to financial difficulties
Mayank Bidawatka, one of the founders of Koo, has confirmed the shutdown of the microblogging platform on his LinkedIn profile. In his post, Mayank thanked his users and said thank you for supporting us for the last 4 years. Mayank further wrote in his post, ‘It takes a lot to euthanize something you have built with so much heart. Koo will always have a special place in my heart for trying to challenge the global giants at their own game. We can and we should. Maybe next time.’
Koo Shuts Down
Koo, which competes with Elon Musk’s microblogging platform X, once had 2.1 million daily active users and 10 million monthly active users. More than 9000 VIPs including central government ministers were associated with this platform. The company’s founders have written in their last note that we want to share some of its assets with those who can take India with a great vision in the world of social media.
Elon Musk bought Twitter in the year 2022 for a multi-billion dollar price. Earlier Twitter (X) was also incurring losses, but after taking over this platform, Musk has made it a profitable microblogging platform. Now this social media platform is giving tough competition to big social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube.
