Abu Dhabi: Devotees have created a big record in the first Hindu temple built in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). More than three and a half lakh devotees visited the first stone-built Hindu temple built in Abu Dhabi within a month of it opening to the public. This information was given by the temple authorities. Let us tell you that this temple was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February. This iconic temple was opened for visitors on March 1.
A temple spokesperson said, “In the first month, there were around 3,50,000 devotees and visitors, of which 50,000 came every weekend (Saturday-Sunday). It is important to note that the temple holds private prayers and remains closed to visitors on Mondays, which means the complex was open to the general public only for 27 out of 31 days in March.” He said, “Every evening from Tuesday to Sunday, Ganga Aarti is performed at 7.30 pm on the banks of Swaminarayan Ghat, which is made using the sacred waters of Ganga and Yamuna brought from India. ” The grand temple was inaugurated on February 14 during an inauguration ceremony attended by over 5,000 people.
BAPS has constructed the temple
The temple has been constructed by BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha on 27 acres in Abu Mureekha near Al Rahba on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway at a cost of approximately Rs 700 crore. Built with 18 lakh bricks and 1.8 lakh cubic meters of sandstone brought from Rajasthan, it is the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi which is built in the Nagara style of architecture like the Ram temple of Ayodhya. The BAPS Hindu Temple is the largest in the entire Bay Area. There are three other Hindu temples in Dubai, UAE.
There are special facilities for the devotees in the temple built in the desert area.
“Since the temple is slightly on the outskirts and in the middle of the desert, public bus service has been started from the city for weekends to facilitate the visitors to the temple easily,” the spokesperson said. During Prime Minister Modi’s two-day visit to the Gulf country in 2015, the UAE allotted land for the construction of a temple in Abu Dhabi. The visit had considerable diplomatic significance as Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister since Indira Gandhi to visit the strategically important Gulf country in 34 years. (Language)
