News18Hindi In an exclusive conversation with MLA Shreyasi Singh has answered important questions related to her life. Shreyasi Singh, daughter of late former Union Minister Digvijay Singh and former MP Putul Kumari, is a highly educated international player and BJP MLA from Jamui, Bihar. It is difficult to handle either sports or politics, but Shreyasi is performing well in both fields with her courage. Shreyasi, who won gold in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, has also received the Arjuna Award. Let’s know what she said..
Question: How does it feel to be selected for the Olympics?
Shreyasi Singh has won gold in Commonwealth Games 2028.
answer- This is indeed a matter of great joy, but on one hand it feels good and on the other hand there is a little nervousness that I have to represent the country on such a big platform and perform well. This was my father’s dream which is being fulfilled after his death. However, if my father were alive today, he would have been so happy and would have been preparing me for the Olympic Games. However, my mother and my sister are my strength and are always ready for me. My team is also very supportive.
Question: Your father was a great politician and also a sports lover. Was his dream to make you a player or a politician?
answer- My father was a politician but was equally a sports person at heart. He loved both politics and sports. I also tried to do both the things of his choice. To a large extent, I have also been successful in this. His dream of raising me and my sister Manasi was not just sports or politics. He wanted me to step into politics along with sports. Father himself was the President of the National Rifle Association of India. Apart from this, he was the Vice President of the Indian Olympic Association. The dedication towards sports that is visible in me and my sister today, I have got it from him and with God’s will, I will work in both these fields in the future as well.
Question: First you are a player and now also an MLA, how do you handle both the responsibilities?
answer- Of course, it is difficult. There is a very busy schedule. The management of a sports person’s life and that of an MLA are different from each other. However, I have tried to balance the two. During elections, when politics required me, I saved some time from sports and when it is needed for sports, I am able to do it because of my hardworking workers. I have a team of very hardworking workers. Many times it has happened that when I am not in the area, they do excellent work and do not let the public feel my absence. My phone and my email are always on. I deal even during sports activities. The people of Jamui also want me to stay in sports, play Olympics and bring glory to the country and Jamui by performing well in shooting.
Question: When and how do you find time for yourself?

Shreyasi Singh is handling both politics and sports very well.
answer- I have such a busy routine that I don’t have any family time or vacation time. It’s been almost 4 years now that I haven’t taken a single personal day off. If I am unwell, have to go somewhere, have a family function or a holiday, I have never enjoyed taking a leave because I don’t have time for it, but I am happy that I have spent my time in the service of the country and the people.
Question: Do we need to devote more time to sports or politics?
answer- Although there is a schedule, but when there is a lot of work as an MLA, the schedule keeps changing from time to time. I devote some time to sports and the rest to serving the public.
Question- Which is more challenging, sports or politics?
answer- Both fields have their own challenges but one thing that I like about sports and learn, understand and experience in my personal life is that like sports, victory and defeat, success and failure will come and go in life. Never get disappointed on defeat and failures. Politics is a field where there are challenges every day and you win and lose on some issue or the other because you have so many projects and work to do. So I am adopting this learning of sports in politics as well.
Question: What do you want to do for the youth and women with both the jurisdictions of sports and politics?
answer- There is a lot to be done. We will discuss this in detail soon.
Question – What are the plans for marriage?
answer- We have to focus on the things that are happening right now. You are seeing it. Along with the duties of an MLA, we now have to focus on the upcoming Olympic Games.
