New Delhi. Diabetes is a disease which is increasing continuously in our country. People’s sedentary lifestyle is the biggest reason behind type-2 diabetes. According to the World Health Organization, 422 million people are suffering from diabetes in the world. In the last 40 years, the number of people suffering from diabetes has increased four times. But if some changes are made in your lifestyle, then a disease like diabetes can be avoided for up to 10 years. A report in Gloucestershire Live says that Professor Naveed Sattar, an expert in metabolic medicine at the University of Glasgow, shared information about research done on the prevention of diabetes with ZOE this week.

When the blood sugar level in the body is high, it affects many parts of the body such as nerves, kidneys, heart and eyes. Therefore, it becomes very important that you keep this disease away from yourself as much as possible.

Professor Sattar of the Institute of Cardiology and Medical Sciences of the University of Glasgow said in his report that some people also have the ability to “return to normal sugar levels”. He said, “If you are 40 and 50 years old and you are pre-diabetic, then by making some small lifestyle changes, you can prevent this disease from coming to you, or increase its time. Like keeping your weight low, repairing muscles. Your low weight can protect you from many diseases. You can lose weight or lose three or four kilograms and keep it stable. If you adopt an active lifestyle, exercise, control your weight, it means that you can postpone the development of diabetes for three, four, five or 10 years.

Measuring your weight every week helps in controlling body weight.

He said that if you want, you can also reach a normal blood sugar level. Professor Sattar also shared his ways of reducing the risk of diabetes, which include cycling to work, increasing his walking and reshaping his “identity” to embrace physical activity. However, he stressed that diet also plays an important role in this.

According to IANS, diabetes is a condition in which the level of sugar (glucose) in your blood is high. This condition usually develops in a person when his pancreas does not make enough insulin. Or say, it does not make insulin at all or when his body does not react to the insulin made by the pancreas. Glucose is the main source of energy for the body and it comes from carbohydrates in food and drinks. Your blood transports glucose to the cells of your body for energy. When insulin stops being produced in the body, the blood sugar level in the body increases a lot. This is also called hyperglycemia.
