Gurugram. In Gurugram, Haryana, a woman has been arrested for allegedly strangulating her eight-year-old son to death. Police gave this information on Thursday. Police said that investigation revealed that the mother committed this crime due to her child returning from school in dirty clothes and missing two books. According to the police, accused Poonam Devi was arrested on Tuesday and produced before the court on Thursday, from where she was sent to judicial custody.
The police initially suspected that the woman had committed this incident because her son had come to know about her alleged illicit relationship with another man. Assistant Police Commissioner Varun Dahiya said, ‘During police interrogation, Devi revealed that when her eight-year-old son Karthik returned from school on Monday, there was putty on his clothes and two of his books were also missing. In anger, he first took off her clothes and made her stand outside the house.
Dahiya told that ‘when the boy insisted on going to the shop, she strangled him with her chunni.’ Police said that the matter came to light on Monday when the police received information about the death of a child from a private hospital. The victim’s father Arvind Kumar works as a labourer. He saw injury marks on the child’s neck and claimed that he had been murdered. After which, on the basis of his complaint, an FIR was registered in Gurugram Sector 18 police station. According to the police, the family is originally a resident of Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh.
