Wrestling: Disappointing news has come for India in wrestling. Indian female wrestler Reetika Hooda has lost the quarterfinal match. In this way, 21-year-old Reetika Hooda’s dream of reaching the semifinals of Women’s Freestyle 76 kg was shattered. The Indian wrestler was defeated by Kyrgyzstan’s wrestler Aiperi Medet Kyzy in the quarterfinals. The wrestler who defeated Reetika is the world’s number-1 wrestler.

Hooda lost to the wrestler from Kyrgyzstan on the basis of losing the last point in a 1-1 draw. Both the wrestlers played defensively due to which both got one point each. But the wrestler from Kyrgyzstan got the last point and on this basis Ritika Hooda had to face defeat. Let us tell you, Ritika gave a tough fight to the wrestler from Kyrgyzstan but lost due to ‘passivity’. According to the rules of wrestling, if the score is equal, then the wrestler who earns the last point is the winner.

Earlier, Ritika entered the quarter-finals by defeating Hungary’s Bernadette Nagy in the pre-quarterfinals. 21-year-old Ritika, the country’s first wrestler to qualify for the Olympics in the women’s freestyle 76 kg category, may not have reached the semi-finals, but she can still have a chance to win a bronze medal. Ritika, who created history by winning the gold medal in the Under-23 World Championship in 2023, will now have to pray for Kyrgyzstan’s Aiperi Medet Kyzy to reach the final so that she can reach the bronze medal match through the repechage. If Medet is unable to reach the final, India’s Paris Games campaign will end with 6 medals and no gold medal.

Paris Olympics draw to a close

The Paris Olympics are in their final stages and India’s campaign is almost over. Ritika is waiting for the repechage round while Vinesh Phogat is eagerly waiting for the decision on her appeal. Now it remains to be seen whether the Indian team returns home with 6 medals from the Paris Olympics or there is an increase in the number of medals. Let us tell you, in the last Olympics, India won a total of 7 medals including 1 gold.
