Disaster rained from the sky till midnight in Delhi, schools closed, red alert in many states


Weather Rain Today Update: The rain that has been falling in the country’s capital Delhi since Wednesday evening has created havoc in the entire Delhi. Water has accumulated everywhere. Be it roads or lanes, water has even entered homes in many areas. Due to heavy rains in Delhi, at least 10 flights heading towards the national capital were diverted on Wednesday, due to which the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘red alert’ warning.

In view of heavy rains, the Delhi government has announced that all schools in the city will remain closed on Thursday. Education Minister Atishi said in a post on X, “In view of very heavy rains this evening and forecast of heavy rains tomorrow, all schools – government and private – will remain closed tomorrow.” Some schools in Gurugram have announced a holiday for today (Thursday), while others have announced online classes in view of the rain warning.

According to the Meteorological Department, a red alert has been issued for extremely heavy rains in coastal Karnataka and southern interior Karnataka. At the same time, an orange alert has been issued for heavy rains in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Western Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Puducherry, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala, Mahe, Konkan and Goa.

IMD has also informed that very heavy rains may occur at some places in Madhya Maharashtra from August 1 to August 3. Goa and Konkan will receive very heavy rains at some places from August 1 to August 3. Similar weather conditions are also expected in Chhattisgarh and western Madhya Pradesh from August 1 to August 3. East Madhya Pradesh will receive rain from August 1 to August 3. Apart from this, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Gujarat regions will receive heavy rains at some places from August 1 to August 3. Kutch and Saurashtra will receive heavy rains on August 1 and Marathwada on August 3.

Additional areas like East Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to receive heavy rains from August 1 to August 3. East Uttar Pradesh will receive rain from August 1 to August 3. Apart from this, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh may receive rain from August 1 to August 2.

Where will it rain in the next 24 hours
According to Skymet Weather, during the next 24 hours, moderate to heavy rain is possible over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, North Eastern Rajasthan and Delhi NCR. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Odisha may receive light to moderate rain with heavy rain at some places. Motor training is possible over North East India, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Rajasthan. Light rain is possible over Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
