A book talk on the book ‘Didda – The Warrior Queen of Kashmir’ authored by business leader and author Ashish Kaul was organized by the IAS Association, Rajasthan on Saturday. He held discussions with the IAS Literary Secretary, IAS Association, Rajasthan, Smt. Mugdha Sinha. The talk was conducted live on the Facebook page of IAS Literary Society, Rajasthan. During the discussion, Ashish Kaul discussed in detail about the journey of his writing, the history of Didda, ‘Streedesh’ and the history of those forgotten famous and powerful women associated with Jammu and Kashmir.
‘Streedesh’ is the story of 13 brave and powerful women of Jammu and Kashmir who on their own had established the basis of socio-economic development in the world on which the world is running today. Those women who are the epitome of greatness are not mentioned anywhere in history. While talking on the story of Didda, Ashish Kaul told that Didda was a handicapped child born in the royal family of the Lohar kingdom, due to which her parents abandoned her. After which he was raised by a maid. Despite her physical disability, Didda was a great and brave queen who defeated 40 thousand enemies with only 500 men.
Ashish Kaul said that there is a need to change the mindset to bring gender equality in our society. We need to adopt this in our daily life and incorporate it in our formal education. We should start this from our homes as well. Women should not need reservation, but they should get the right to equality. There is no harm in acknowledging the greatness of women.
