Djokovic, who has been trying to win Olympic gold for his country Serbia for years, defeated Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the final by 7-6(3), 7-6(2). How tough this match was can be gauged from the fact that no player was able to break the service. Both the sets went to tiebreak, where Novak Djokovic managed to win. Let us tell you, he has won all four Grand Slams, but had never won an Olympic medal. However, this time he made this dream come true. 37-year-old Novak Djokovic has become the oldest player to win an Olympic gold medal in the Open Era. He had earlier won a bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Golden Slam completed
Novak Djokovic completed his Golden Slam as soon as he won the gold medal in the Olympics. He has become the 5th tennis player in the world to complete the Golden Slam. Let us tell you, Golden Slam means a player who wins all four Grand Slams and Olympic Gold. That is, the player who has become Olympic champion along with Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, US Open. Before this, Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams have completed the Golden Slam.
The first set between the two players lasted for 94 minutes i.e. one and a half hours. There was a similar tough competition in the second set and this set also lasted for 1 hour. After this historic victory, Novak Djokovic fell on the court and started crying loudly like a small child. After this, he directly met his family members and coach, there too he was seen crying. His hands were also shaking but these were tears of happiness and relief.
