Violence in many cities of Bangladesh

Many cities including Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka are in the grip of violence. The Sheikh Hasina government has announced an indefinite nationwide curfew from 6 pm on Sunday. This is the first time such a step has been taken during the ongoing protests that began last month. In view of the protests and violence in Bangladesh, the Indian government has also made a special appeal to its citizens. Indian citizens have been strictly advised not to travel to Bangladesh until further orders.

Indian High Commission issued helpline numbers

Along with this, all Indian citizens currently present in Bangladesh have been asked to exercise extreme caution. They have been advised to limit their activities and stay in touch through the emergency phone numbers of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka. For this, the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh has issued phone numbers. These numbers are +8801958383679, +8801958383680, +8801937400591.

More than 100 dead so far

Let us tell you that on Sunday, violence broke out once again in many cities of Bangladesh including the capital Dhaka. More than 100 people have died so far due to the violence. Hundreds of people were injured. On Sunday, student protesters clashed with the police and ruling party workers. Incidents like arson and vandalism have been reported in many cities including the capital Dhaka.

Demand for resignation of PM Sheikh Hasina

All the students involved in the protest have demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Police have also fired tear gas shells and stun grenades to disperse thousands of protesters.

Sheikh Hasina has been in government for 15 years

The protests have become a big challenge for PM Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Hasina returned to power for the fourth consecutive time in January. She has been ruling Bangladesh for more than 15 years. In such a situation, there are signs of Hasina’s government falling. All the protesters are adamant on the same demand that Sheikh Hasina should resign from the post of PM.

Student organizations in Bangladesh are protesting against reservation in government jobs. People here have been protesting for the last month demanding the abolition of quota in government jobs. A large number of students are involved in this protest. The students’ protest has now taken the form of violence.
