Do type 2 diabetes patients also need to take insulin doses? Know the truth from the doctor

Do Type 2 Diabetes Patients Need Insulin: Type 1 diabetes patients have to take insulin doses to control blood sugar. People suffering from this type of diabetes are unable to produce sufficient amount of insulin in their body. Most of the patients of type 2 diabetes are given medicines so that their sugar level remains under control. Do type 2 diabetes patients also need insulin? Let’s know important things about this from the doctor.

Dr Sonia Rawat, Director, Preventive Health and Wellness Department, Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi, told AnyTV There are mainly two types of diabetes. Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes. In people with type 1 diabetes, insulin production in the body is reduced or it is not produced at all. This causes blood sugar to increase rapidly and insulin doses are required to control it.

According to health experts, in type 2 diabetes, insulin is produced in the body of people, but insulin resistance develops in the body. Due to this, insulin is not able to work properly. Due to this, blood sugar starts increasing. In such a condition, people are given medicines, which help in controlling blood sugar. In the initial stage, type 2 diabetes patients do not need to take insulin dose.

Dr. Sonia Rawat said that in those patients of type 2 diabetes whose blood sugar level cannot be controlled by medicines and sugar starts becoming uncontrolled, then insulin therapy is given to such patients in that condition. As the disease of diabetes increases, the effect of sugar controlling medicines may decrease. If medicines and lifestyle changes are not enough, then the doctor can recommend insulin.

Many people have a question in their mind that what is insulin? Actually insulin is a hormone, which is produced in our pancreas. This hormone controls the blood sugar level in the body. To control blood sugar in diabetic patients, it is injected into the body through injection. This hormone directly reduces blood sugar and provides energy to the cells.
