Dr Sushil Ojha, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at Doon Medical College Hospital, Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, while giving information to Local 18, said that special care has to be taken of the eyes during summers. Because, dry and hot air causes dryness in the eyes. At the same time, when people use AC excessively. Or stay in AC all the time, they also complain of dry eyes. Apart from this, excessive use of mobile or computer also causes aggravation.
How many hours should we run AC at what temperature?
According to experts, AC can be run for 8 to 10 hours in areas with temperature above 40 degrees Celsius. Whereas, when the temperature is between 30 to 40 degrees Celsius, running AC for 6 to 8 hours is sufficient. Staying in AC for too long causes irritation, redness and stinging in the eyes. Dryness can also occur. It can also cause serious problems for the eyes.
Take special care of your eyes in summer
Further, ophthalmologist Sushil Ojha said that apart from avoiding heat and unnecessary use of AC, excessive screen time should also be avoided. Do not sit continuously for more than 30 seconds at a time. Eyelids should be blinked frequently. Apart from this, the rule of 20 should be followed, under which the eyelids should be blinked every 20 seconds. One should look away for 10 or 20 seconds. When you are sitting in AC and suddenly go out in the sun, where heat wave is going on. In such a situation, this difference in temperature is very harmful for the eyes. If you are going out, then definitely wear sunglasses. Wear glasses of a good company. Because, the glasses of cheap glasses can harm the eyes.
