New Delhi. The matter of rape and murder of a female doctor in the RG Kar Medical College of Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, on the night of 8 and 9 August has reached the Supreme Court. Three letter petitions, including the petition of BDS doctor Monica Singh of Army College, have reached the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court DY Chandrachud. It is not yet known whether these letter petitions will be heard in the Supreme Court or not. All the three people who sent the letter petitions have described this issue as very serious.

Apart from Dr. Monika Singh, who works in Army Dental College, two lawyers Ujjwal Gaur and Rohit Pandey have sent petitions to the Chief Justice through letters. Ujjwal Gaur and Rohit Pandey have described the case of rape and brutal murder of a female doctor in Kolkata as rare and horrific. Ujjwal and Rohit, who practice in the Supreme Court itself, have said in the letter petition sent to Chief Justice Chandrachud that this is an atrocity on the soul of the country. Both have said in the letter that not only a doctor but humanity has been attacked. Both lawyers have said that the soul of the entire country has been shaken by this barbaric incident. They have said in the letter petition that Chief Justice DY Chandrachud should give appropriate instructions in this matter.

Both the lawyers have said that there is a need for speedy investigation and justice in the case of rape and murder of the doctor. The letter petition states that the Supreme Court needs to give a message to the country in this matter. At the same time, in the letter petition that Dr. Monika Singh has sent to the Chief Justice, she has said that the matter should be taken cognizance of by herself. She has said that the Supreme Court should give proper instructions regarding security in hospitals. Monika Singh has said in her petition that the security of hospitals also needs to be handed over to the central forces.
