Doctors adamant on no safety, no duty called off their strike, what happened?

New Delhi. Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) informed on Tuesday night that the strike of doctors across the country has been called off. This strike will be completely called off by tonight. All doctors will return to work on Wednesday morning. It was told that talks have been held with the Dean and MD of RG Kar Medical College. The doctors have been assured that their attendance will not be cut. All demands related to security have been accepted.

FORDA says that they have been assured that the attendance of the doctors will be taken care of. Also, their salary will not be deducted during the strike. Earlier on Tuesday, FORDA had said that it would continue its strike demanding a law to ensure the safety of health workers. This whole matter started after the murder of a female doctor in Kolkata. In a post released earlier on Tuesday evening on the social media platform ‘X’, FORDA had said, “No assurance on the Central Health Services Protection Act – no withdrawal – our demands are incomplete. We will continue the strike until our demands are fully accepted.”

Doctors’ strike lasted for two days…
Resident doctors of government hospitals across the country went on an indefinite strike on Monday in protest against the murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College. Due to this, OPD and non-emergency surgeries along with elective services were disrupted. Doctors continued their strike on Tuesday as well against the alleged rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata.

IMA had talked to the Health Minister…
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) had met Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda to raise key issues affecting the medical community. The IMA submitted a memorandum of demands to him, which includes declaring hospitals as safe zones, implementing central laws against violence and security conditions for recognition of medical colleges.
