Islamabad: After the formation of the new government in Pakistan, discussions about restoring relations with India are gaining momentum. This question is coming to everyone’s mind after Pakistan’s new Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s statement a few days ago regarding restoration of relations with India, but Pakistan clarified on Thursday that trade relations with India will be restored again. He has no plans to start over.
Let us tell you that after the Government of India abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution to end the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in 2019, trade relations with the neighboring country are ‘non-existent’. This clarification from Pakistan’s Foreign Office comes days after new Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar made a statement in London that Pakistan will seriously consider restoring trade relations with India, which have been suspended since August 2019.

In the matter of restoring trade relations with India, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has, in a way, rejected the statement of its own Foreign Minister, in which Ishaq Dar had talked about efforts to do so. India in August 2019 suspended Article 370, which gave special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, and divided it into the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
