To find answers to these questions, we spoke to Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist at Max Healthcare Gurgaon. Dr. Paras Aggarwal talked to.
Causes of increased blood sugar
Dr. Paras Agrawal told that there is no solid basis for the increase in blood sugar in extreme heat, but there can be many reasons for the increase in sugar. Therefore, if you fall under these reasons, then blood sugar can also increase. For example, if there is a difference in the timing of eating, there is a decrease in exercise, you start eating more carbohydrate-rich foods, you get less sleep, there is more stress, then in these conditions, whether it is summer or winter, blood sugar increases. In such a situation, we have to see what kind of mistakes the patients are making. Therefore, it is better that diabetes patients follow the advice given by the doctors, then there will be no problem in controlling sugar whether it is summer or winter.
Sugar increases in these conditions
Dr. Paras Aggarwal said that if you are suffering from diabetes and you feel that your sugar level is low, then you start doing many wrong things, which will affect your sugar. If you do not exercise or stay in the sun for too long, then the sugar level can also increase. On the other hand, those who are patients of type 1 diabetes and take insulin and go out in the sun for a long time, then there is a danger for them because in this situation the insulin will start diluting rapidly and it will not work properly. In such a situation, blood sugar can increase rapidly. Therefore, in summer, exercise very early in the morning or in the evening and do not exercise too much.
how to reduce sugar in summer
According to Dr. Paras Aggarwal, first of all, control your diet in summer. Do not eat too much fried food, do not drink alcohol or anything related to alcohol. Along with this, do not consume junk food, fast food, saturated food, processed food etc. Consume more seasonal green vegetables. Exercise daily. Do not stay in the sun for too long.
