Bokaro: The tribal culture of Jharkhand is full of mysteries. Even today, the tribals know about many such fruits, grains and medicines, whose use is not even known to the common man. The tribals are still using the fruits found in the forests as medicine. There is one such fruit, about which the tribals have a great belief. The name of this fruit is Ashadhi fruit, which is mostly seen in the rainy season.
A unique fruit is found on small thorny trees in the forests of Bokaro. Generally people do not eat it. But, the tribals consider it a miraculous fruit. The scientific name of this fruit is Mayna laxiflora. In the local language it is called Ashadhi fruit. In Marathi it is also called Ranmeva and in other languages it is called Muyna. According to the beliefs of the tribals, eating Ashadhi fruit reduces the effect of poison on snake and scorpion bite.
These fruits were eaten before going to the farm
Chatur Manjhi of Panchora village told that in olden times people used to eat Ashadhi fruit before working in the fields. Villagers believe that if a snake or scorpion bites while working in the fields, after eating this fruit, the effect of the poison will be reduced and the victim’s life will be saved in time. Because, tribals live mostly in forests, in such a situation, they keep encountering snakes and scorpions during rainy days.
Ayurvedacharya told something else
At the same time, Bokaro’s senior Ayurvedic doctor Dr. Rajesh Pathak says that this is just the tribals’ belief about Ashadhi fruit. According to scientific treatment, Ashadhi fruit does not have the ability to neutralize the poison, so in case of snake bite, the victim should immediately reach the hospital for treatment, so that the patient can be treated properly in time.
How to use this fruit
Ayurvedic doctor told that the nature of Ashadhi fruit is hot and this fruit mainly helps in increasing the digestive power. For this, the fruit should be dried well and powdered. Mixing half a teaspoon in a glass of water and drinking it daily increases the digestive power of the stomach. At the same time, pregnant women and patients suffering from asthma should not consume this fruit, as it can harm them.
